Leave a gift in your Will

Legacies are often a difficult subject to talk about, particularly in the context of treating people in hospital. But whether they have health problems or not, many people are comforted knowing that they plan to leave some money to a good cause. If you want to leave a legacy to the BMECt, you need to write it into your will and have it witnessed.

All amounts are enormously appreciated and can have a significant impact on our work. We will ensure that your gift will be administered in a professional and sensitive manner.

It is important to remember that every gift from a Will that we receive is free from inheritance tax.

Don’t forget to gift aid!

We could claim an extra 25% from HMRC on top of everything you donate.

In order to qualify you need to have paid or will pay an amount of income tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April to 5 April) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all charities you donate to will reclaim on your gifts each year.

For example if you donate £100 in total to charity during a year, there will be £25 that can be reclaimed in gift aid. If you have or will pay more than £25 in tax then you are eligible for the scheme.

Please note that other taxes such as VAT and council tax cannot be included.

There are donation envelopes across our hospitals site. If you would like to make a donation when you are here, fill out the envelope, enclose your donation and give it to a member of staff.

If you need any help, our fundraising team is on hand to provide support. Just let us know by calling 0121 507 5196 or emailing swbh.fundraising@nhs.net
