Consultant contacts Lauren Davies – Service Support Manager, giving details of when surgery is required

Consultant provides his / her availability

Service Support Manager provides costs to Consultant

Service Support Manager liaises with theatre team on list availability and appropriate staffing

Service Support Manager liaises with Sister Sarah McCay, Eye Ward in-charge regarding beds and nursing cover

Theatre and ward agree on theatre team availability and bed availability

List date agreed with consultant

Consultant provides information on funding source

9

Consultant liaises with booking team regarding requirements for surgery

10

Service support manager arranges for notes to be available and books pre-op assessment as required

11

Patient admitted and undergoes procedure

12

Service Support Manager bills consultant / patient / insurance company

Please note: BMEC is not on the Insurers’ list but City Hospital, Birmingham is.
