Doctor Contact List and Rota
The new oncall rota from August 2015 to Feb 2016 has now been emailed to you all.
If you have any issues with this rota please write to me directly.
Please note the following guidelines in order to ensure the transition to this new rota is smooth.
- Fourth oncall: This continues to remain a non-resident shift. The morning clinic post oncall will remain unaffected. You will not be expected to do any session in the afternoon (only) the day after you are on-call. (Compensatory half day PM session after every oncall).
- Second oncall: Resident full shift.
Night shift: You get the day off on the day you start the night shift and the following day off the following day.
i.e: Friday to Sunday block – Day off on Friday and Day off on Monday. Return to normal working day (NWD) on Tuesday.
Monday to Thursday block – Days off from Monday to Friday. Return to NWD following Monday.
Day shift: You will continue working as normal. You will attend to your clinical commitments at your peripheral unit as NWD and then attend Eye Casualty at BMEC at 1700 hours.
You have the flexibility to take 7 days as time off (as compensatory rest) in addition to your annual leave anytime you like with appropriate notice.
- First oncall: Resident day shift. (No night shifts)
You will get a day off before and after your weekend shift.
- All Wednesday afternoon sessions where there will be no teaching will be considered as compensatory rest.
- Please liaise with your local units to ensure that the clinic streams have been cancelled post oncall. Please do this asap so that the units are aware of it NOW rather than when you join in August. The peripheral units are aware of the oncall rota and the new changes.
- The compensatory rest post oncall remains according to the original rota and does not change with oncall swaps. The only time this may be an issue is with night oncall swaps by the second oncalls. Please try not to swap night shifts as much as possible. If you do need to do so due to unavoidable circumstances, then it will be your initiative to ensure that service is not compromised by liaising with your local service manager well in advance.
